Offering three tours daily, the Discovery is a wonderful way to see the ecology at the reef without having to go swimming or get wet. Capturing the mood of the Keys, the Discovery’s unique underwater viewing room allows an alluring view of the living coral reef. From departure to return, this tour provides you a sense of wonder and surprise as you enjoy both the scenery of Key West and the hidden underwater landscape and marine life of the coral reef. After you choose a seat (either in the sun, shade or air-conditioning), the tour begins with a waterside description of Key West. The Discovery offers a narration of the Key West harbor, before departing for the reef, six nautical miles offshore. This portion of your tour includes unique views of Fort Zachary Taylor, the Truman Annex, a coast-to-coast view of Duval Street, Sunset Key, and many additional interesting places in the Key West Harbor. Frequently, our passengers are delighted to spot dolphins, sea turtles, and spotted eagle rays on the way out to the reef. Once we arrive at the reef, you are invited into our underwater viewing room. Unique to the Keys, there are 20 large windows set into the sides. Each window is angled a bit for better viewing, since this room is already 4 ½ feet underwater. With the wide windows and our skilled narrator, our guests are provided with a panoramic view as the reef passes underneath the Discovery. With three tours daily, the Discovery allows you the option of the morning tour, the afternoon tour, or our champagne sunset tour. Each tour is 2 hours long, and as a special treat, the last tour of each day combines the regular glass bottom boat tour with a champagne sunset tour. For this tour, we offer complementary champagne while you enjoy the legendary Key West sunset. We glide past the Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square, where you can see the street performers, and enjoy the festive atmosphere from the water. And, of course, you can’t miss the gorgeous setting sun.
